Salt Lake Temple Square in Salt Lake City, Utah - The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints

Today we had a home school field trip to Temple Square. The nice thing about home school is that you can mix education and religion any time; you can't do that at public school. :-) It was the most beautiful day ever and it was so refreshing being on the temple grounds. We had a little history lesson as we toured the Beehive House. The sister missionaries that took us on the tour were incredible and it reminded me of when I was a missionary. It was a sweet experience and the Spirit was strong! After the Beehive House we walked the grounds and went to a few visitor's center. All in all it was a blessed day and I had an increased gratitude for being a member of Jesus Christ's Church restored to the earth through the Prophet Joseph Smith. It made me smile to see all the "tourists" that were not from this country experiencing Temple Square and most likely feeling the Holy Ghost testify to the truthfulness of what the missionaries shared with them. Seeing all the "tourists" also made me think of the scripture  found in 2 Nephi Chapter 12 verse 2 which says : "...the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills, and all nations shall flow unto it". I certainly saw people from all nations flowing into the gates of Temple Square today. You should experience it for yourself some day.  Enjoy the pictures!

Suprise Party - Spontaneous Outing - Spring!

As time approached for my dad's 65th birthday I kept feeling prompted to throw him a party. Of course, I dismissed the many promptings because throwing a party is a lot of work and I wasn't really up for it. Nevertheless, the nudging wouldn't go away. Finally one day, a week before his birthday I decided to JUST DO IT. I came under the impression that my deceased mother was the one nudging me to throw this party for her dear husband. Well, she got her way. :-) Planning this surprise party ended up being a great experience. My sister Anna helped me in many ways which helped lighten the load. I mailed off the invitations noting that it indeed was to be a surprise party. I made a Mexican feast. One of my dad's good friends aided as a decoy to get my dad out of the house for one hour so I could set up. My neighbor (missionary trainer) from next door came over and helped me with set up. I was able to cook and prepare all the food in my sister's basement apartment which helped to keep everything a surprise. It turned out to be a success...he was surprised and lots of people showed up.
I am sure my mom was pleased with how everything turned out....I know I was. :-)

I forgot to mention that throwing this party cost quite a bit of money and I knew money would be tight until I got paid again. So I prayed that the Lord would help make a way for me to get by with the money I had left. Well, He answered my prayer, as always, through someone else. Our dear family friends the Bodtchers had brought over a huge box of pull-ups to give to my sister Anna for her twins. Well, I noticed the size was way too big for her twins...they were Josh's size pull-ups, so I asked her if I could have them. She gladly gave them to me. Now I'm sure you all are past buying pull-ups, but let me tell you that box costs $30.00. Now that's a lot of money for how quick Josh goes through pull-ups. So there was the answer to my prayer... a much needed box of pull-ups for my Spina Bifida boy that I didn't have to pay for. :-)

Time for the cake!

Wonderful Family Friends!

My dad asked for a bike on his 65th birthday!

Now on to today - We decided we needed something spontaneous for home school. We get burnt out sometimes sticking to our schedule, plus it was a gorgeous morning...hence our spontaneous outing.
We had more fun than anything, although I did throw in some drama lessons for technicalities sake. They did some improv. skits, performances, and monologues....:-)

I love the green against the rock

We even stopped by the temple grounds after our "drama lesson".

Happy Easter!

                                                                  HAPPY EASTER!

From Our Family to Yours!
(Minus the 2 teenagers...)

The Savior's loving sacrifice keeps our family going. We would truly be nothing without Him. He truly can "move mountains of grief and oceans of pain". The Savior Jesus Christ makes it possible for all of us to be resurrected one day and to see our loved ones again. Without this knowledge life would be meaningless, but because we KNOW life is full of meaning and purpose. There is hope for everyone because of a Loving, Kind Savior. Rejoice in the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ! We do!
With warmest regards and Love

Happy March!

Happy March! Good riddens winter...hello SPRING- we welcome you with open arms.
Well-- so this is not the only thing I post about today, I will share some of my favorite quotes. Before that though I do have to mention something funny my 11 year old said as we were  leaving Homeschool PE at UVU. I told him while I was waiting in the hall, reading the newspaper, hundreds of high school students were coming down the hall. Obviously it was High School orientation day at the college or something like that. Anyways, I mentioned that they were lucky to be visiting the college as high schoolers. I said, "We never did that when I was in high school". He said, "Mom this is not the nineteen hundreds anymore - it's the two-thousands". I started busting up laughing. I couldn't believe he said that. I don't consider myself very old, but I guess I AM. His numbers put that into perspective for me.
