The Big Day!

Joshua was baptized today. It was a very special day. A lot of very dear people in our lives were in attendance. It was bittersweet for me as a mother- as this is my youngest and last child- that I will witness being baptized into Jesus Christ's church.

There were a few bloops and blunders in the dressing room. Luckily, we had it all to ourselves.  I accidentally pulled Josh's orthotic too quickly out of his shoe and it hit him in the lip. He started crying. I felt horrible. Those orthotics are some hard plastic. Plus, there was another blunder which is too embarrassing to share, and only Spina Bifida moms could relate.

When Josh was getting changed, after he was baptized, he told me , "Wow, that was cool. Can I do that again?" He also told me when he was confirmed a member and received the Gift of the Holy Ghost he felt the Holy Ghost's presence. He got teary eyed. He said, "Now mom I will cry like you do when you feel the Spirit". Such precious moments shared.

I was so proud of Matthew for giving the baptismal talk. He did such a good job. I loved hearing my sister bear her sweet testimony. I loved seeing and visiting with so many dear people I am privileged to know and associate with.

I only have a few pictures to share, but at least we got some as a keepsake.

Joshua's 8th Birthday

My youngest is now 8. He celebrated his 8th birthday a week or so ago. We had a party at the house for him. He invited friends from school and a neighbor friend. He wanted to invite a lot, but I gave him a limit. As you will see in the pictures- he mainly has girl friends. It was really cute when it was time for them to give him his gift because I asked them to say one thing they liked about Josh. I loved hearing their responses. One said, "He's the best friend a girl could ever have". Another said, "He's so nice". The boy said, " I like Josh because he always invites me to his parties". They also had to pop a balloon and they loved that. We played some real fun games. I had a blast watching their excitement. Awww the innocence of youth...how fleeting. It was refreshing being surrounded by 7, soon to be 8 year olds. The party was a success.
Costco Cake...delicious!

Time to sing Happy Birthday

We played a fun game and this was the end result.

Catching up...

I have mentioned in many posts about my missionary trainer that lives next door...literally.
Well, I finally have a picture of us together. Her name is Bobbie Jo. We served together in Roy, UT. Yup...just up the road a ways. My kids and her kids are friends, and so are we, of course. Who knew? Small world when you serve a mission in Utah and come back to live in Utah.

-doTERRA moment-
doTERRA Melaleuca essential oil- This oil is good for lots of skin disorders as well as for ear infections. Joshua gets pressure sores every once in a while from his orthotics (leg braces). Before the oils I used to use various medicated creams to try and help with the healing of the sore. It would take at least one month to scab up and start healing. I used Melaleuca for a very bad pressure sore once and it only took 3 days to scab up and start healing. I couldn't believe it.

Melaleuca also has analgesic, antibacterial, anti fungal, and anti-infectious properties... a win win situation. I personally have used it for an ear infection. I could feel an ear infection coming on so I put drops of Melaleuca oil on a cotton ball and taped it to my ear. Well.. I actually felt more pain for the next 16 hours after that because it was drawing out whatever was causing the infection. It was working to rid of the problem instead of just treating the symptoms. When I woke up the next morning my ear was fine. Next time I'll be smart and rub lavender oil around my ear to calm the pain. Until next time...
